Character Division believes in creating character driven entertainment for everyone.
We strongly believe in the principles of integration and fair access for our audiences, artists, staff and other partners with visible or non-visible disabilities. We support the goals of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), and we’re committed to making our performances, workshops, and online content as accessible and inclusive as possible.
Here are some of the ways we support accessibility:
- We are currently in the process of revising our web sites to conform to W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), with goal of including alt text and image descriptions in all of our digital media whenever possible.
- We choose wheelchair-accessible venues for performances and in-person events we present, and provide audiences with information about accessible transportation options.
- We offer ASL interpretation at select performances and workshops.
- For blind or low-vision audience members, we offer guided touch tours at performances and workshops by request (please allow five business days for us to accommodate requests for touch tours).
- We are in the process of developing a plan to integrate relaxed performances for neurodivergent audiences in to our future live performances. We hope to be able to implement this in mid to late 2026.
While we work hard to remove barriers to accessibility, sometimes we miss something, or just get it wrong. When we do, please let us know. If you have questions, suggestions, or specific access needs, please reach out and tell us about it. We promise to do our best to make it work.
Let’s create more accessible entertainment and experiences together!
